Particularly taken with these images!
Hi Carol~~ Your photos are really lovely, kind of the essence of a cold winter's twilight.
Spectacular!!!!!!!!! AWesome!
Magical pictures! So beautifully captured.
Oh, I love ornamental grasses. The blooms are just beautiful.
Very interesting! Love these!
Carol, I think I've mentioned before how you've awakened in me such an appreciation for the grasses. But this series is even more magical with the moon. All the silver. A weaving of the feminine and the masculine. It feels at once pagan and religious. It must be the season that finds me ready for such images.
The Miscanthus looks wonderful in the company of the moon. I really love the first image!
So soft, I almost can feel it. Again, one of your most beautiful photos. I really do love it. Sad to say that they do not grow here, or att least, they do not survive the winter.
And thank you, dearest Carol, for your congratulations. Have a lovely weekend. Kram!
Här ovan ser jag att du vill att jag ska skriva på svenska. Menar du det? I så fall blir det så i fortsättningen.
Amazing!! And how clever of you to make something so dramatic out of Miscanthus grass(es)! /Ruben
Just great pictures! Have a nice weekend!//Eva
Carol,
The Miscanthus plumes are beautiful in the soft glow of twilight. And, what a gorgeous moon! Such a wonderful time of day. I suppose I treasure this time because it is so short-lived. Wonderful photos.
Hi Carol with the view, gorgeous December photos. I have no luck with my moon pictures :-( Well done!
Happy weekend/ Tyra
I love these images, Carol! Somehow they are both chilling and warming at the same time. Pure magic indeed. :-)
Frances
Wow, stunning images!
I noticed the full moon too. It just happened to come on the only day when the skies were clear. Great photos of the miscanthus with the moon in the background.

Excellent~~I don't think I've seen miscanthus look better~gail
Here is the translation of Mia's quote... more or less:
Gosh so nice to be able to answer in Swedish! Glossy photographs you view and almost full moon. You can see exactly how your garden is in hibernation, waiting for spring and warmer periods. Looking forward to it, thus the spring, but now the snow came, jippiee!
Thank you all for your comments! Rob of 'Our French garden in the beautiful Dordogne' wrote in my previous post something I have often thought of and that is how we can all look up from all over the world and see the same moon. I love the way the moon lights up the night garden... just magical and I wish I could show you with photos but that would take time lapse and I never seem to get that together... Maybe one day. WE all too can enjoy that aspect of the moon in our own gardens... walking about in moon shadows and such. Hope from wherever you are that you have a good view of the now waning moon. Carol
The plumes are very impressive. It is one of my favourite grasses.
Have a great weekend.
It is a wonderful sky color,
and a view feeling relaxed.
Thank you for showing scenery of splendid Nature.
I loved the intimacy you showed with these. I felt as though I were laying in the grasses looking up at the moon. It's one of my favorite things to do. Of course in my imagination it was a lot closer to August than December.
Carol, those photos are so lovely - sends me right into the spirit of Winter. How clever of you to capture the moon accompanied by the Miscanthus.
Hugs Katarina
Carol,
I have a quick question for you. I am considering taking a trip to Smith College Botanical Gardens. However, I am wondering if the Conservatory warrants the 2 1/2 hour trip. Or, would this adventure be better if saved for the spring when I can include a tour of the outdoor gardens?
Oh my goodness, I LOVE these images. Absolutley stunning.
RO :o)
Liisa ... I am not sure you received my answer to your question... I do recommend the Smith Gardens anytime... but you would not see as much now as in the spring. If you have to choose one I would go with spring. The arboretum is magical all year and there are some fabulous trees, which I will continue to post this winter. Coming soon ... Beech and Metasequoia. Carol
miscanthus! now i know what to call it! i love using it in flower arrangements when it dries out and get fluffy like your photos here. beautiful.
