A bit of wildness for Gail's Wildflower Wednesday.
Words fail me right now . . . so sad for neighboring towns and states . . . for the wild skies that left so much loss beneath them. We were lucky.

How amazing! I have never seen a caterpillar eating and a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis on the same plant. Stunning photos and what an exciting experience!
I just love these butterfly photos. How lucky are you to have them close at hand. I'm so impressed.

This Amazing Pictures
Good creations
You were lucky, and now we are, too. What gorgeous imagery. Oh, my heavens. The Monarchs...the circle of life....exquisite. I'm left breathless.
How lucky you are to have so many pupae in the garden. And on the sedums to boot! I have many sedums and no pupae. Great photos -what patience.
You know Carol, your photos are so stunning; I just sound so redundant saying "awesome", "beautiful", or "stunning." What words are left? Just let me say, I love your blog, I love your photos.
Truly a work of art... your blog posts continue to enthrall! Larry
Gorgeous pictures Carol ~ I enjoyed seeing this beautiful butterfly in all its phases of metamorphosis.
I'm happy to hear you were spared the effects of the hurricane - these storms have such terrible power.
Can always rely on you Carol for a breathtakingly beautiful wild post. Nature balances on a knife edge between creation and destruction but these shots are pure glory hymns.
Carol, you live in such an amazing bounty of beauty. Hard to believe that you can find all those pic ops in one place. Beautiful shots.

Such patient and careful observation - especially the empty chrysalis!
Carol, it is amazing to see many life stages in just one plant. I wonder how the plant still retain leaves with all those larvae! I also love the photo story, i.e. from emergence to your hand to the sky, lovely show! And the 1st 2 wide angle photos are so beautiful too! Best regards...
Hello, Carol
Lovely pupas.
The birth of life is a holy ceremony.
Reincarnation.
Thought of sublime Nature.
I am envious of you in your walking the life toward contact with direct it.
It is really precious.
Have a good weekend.

Dear Readers All . . . Thank you! I so appreciate your sharing. I forget that many may not know of my rearing the young caterpillars as a yearly ritual, then release the butterflies into my garden. There are so many on the sedum for I had placed it into their indoor habitat in hopes that they will make their chrysalis on the leaves and stems. Most all of them do! You would not find this in nature . . . I do not believe. So glad you enjoy! Carol
I'm glad to see that all is well at the farm. Those stories of Vermont were heartbreaking. Your photos are so lovely. I wish you'd publish a calendar...
Hi Carol
Beautiful photos - and something that we don't get to see everyday. What a magical process.
A wonderful photo essay! Iave not seen many butterflies this ¥ear. It is worrisome.
Thank you for sharing the miracle of the emerging Monarch...and you know how I feel about the lovely chrysalises, both empty and filled. Heart breakingly beautiful.
All joys and yes, I too mourn for all the people, plants, and animals harmed by the storms.
I'm happy you are ok.
Love,
Sharon
